At (a) we have the Root Position of the Tonic Chord, followed by the Sub-dominant
 followed by the Root Position of the Tonic. At ( b ) and ( c ) we have the same three Chords in other Positions. This is also easy to remember. Note that we have the same Bass Note three times in succession.Here is a complete example introducing 6 and  Chords according to the foregoing precepts. Let the student analyze this example and write in carefully both the Roman Numerals and the Figured Bass before going further. Play the example, and sing it too. |

After having mastered this example the student is ready for some Basses, introducing 6 and  Chords in their various uses. These must all be made to sound well. If properly done, they should prove very satisfactory. In these we give the Figures. Let the student add the Roman Numerals, also the name of the Scale. |
